CleanSignals is built to collect as little as possible. This page explains what is collected in each part of the service, why, and how to delete it.
The Mac app
The app runs on your Mac. It notices events such as which app is in front and when you type, and turns them into signals: times, counts, categories and coded ids. It never records what you type, what you copy, screenshots, window titles, file names, full web addresses or mouse positions. The optional screenshot reader reads words from a window picture on your Mac and deletes the picture immediately.
Signals are sent only to the webhook address you choose in Settings. If you leave it empty, nothing leaves your Mac. The full list of signals and fields is in the signal catalogue.
The website
- Download: before downloading we ask for your email. We store the email and the date only, to tell you about updates.
- Contact form: we store your name, company, email and message, to reply to you.
- The website does not use analytics or advertising cookies.
The optional dashboard
- Account: your email address and sign-in method, held by Firebase Authentication.
- Signals: the signals your Macs send to your dashboard webhook, with the device id. They are deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Only you can see your signals. You can delete all of them, or your whole account, from the dashboard at any time.
Where data is kept
Website and dashboard data is stored with Google Firebase in the European Union (Belgium, europe-west1). We do not sell or share it.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion. Dashboard users can delete their data themselves. For anything else, use the contact form.
